OUR VOICES. AUTHENTIC. INSPIRING.

We all benefit when nature is protected. Just as the environmental movement is for everyone, it should also be by everyone. Yet too often environmental leaders work alone, isolated from others. In order to build and sustain our environmental community, WE Africa is creating spaces to connect with, learn from, and inspire each other. Safe spaces to come together with a common purpose, be vulnerable, and hold each other up through our shared humanity.

WE talk is about recognizing that our stories create collective solutions leading to social change for our environment.

A SAFE SPACE

WE talk creates a safe, carefully curated space for women to tell their own stories of what it is like to lead, find purpose, live in alignment with your values, fail and succeed, seek joy, and honor yourself. WE talks are powerful and deeply personal stories from women who have been knocked down and have risen up again wiser and more determined.

DIVERSE VOICES

WE talk invites diverse voices to share stories focused on our five leadership pillars that guide the Women for the Environment (WE) fellowship: wellbeing, personal growth, relationships & peacebuilding, visibility & scaling influence, and innovation. WE talk brings the reality of these leadership pillars to life through grounding them in personal experience and the art of storytelling – creating a shared community of practice and a strong foundation for action.

AUTHENTIC SELVES

WE talk moves away from a rigid format with strict time frames and scripts. Our speakers are invited to bring their most authentic selves. Many of the WE talk storytellers come from outside the environmental sector, reminding us that we are not alone, and that we all have stories of authenticity, courage, and resilience that connect us and inspire better and more impactful leadership.

WE TALK SPEAKERS ARE WOMEN WHO:

Are working to make their communities, their countries, and their workspaces better more just, more inclusive, healthier and more sustainable.

Have stories to tell that may inspire new ideas, and create connections that will help others, especially women, feel less alone.

Are willing to be vulnerable, courageous, and truthful in telling the story of their own personal journey, knowing that this is a safe space with no judgement.

Deserve a bigger platform, because they can share the kinds of real stories that aren’t being told widely enough, and that are inspirational to others.
