Sevidzem Ernestine Leikeki is a Cameroonian conservationist, gender advocate, and rural development practitioner with over 18 years of experience advancing community-led environmental sustainability and women’s economic empowerment. She is Co-Founder of Cameroon Gender and Environment Watch (CAMGEW), where she works through a strong gender lens to promote environmental protection, regenerative agriculture, and inclusive grassroots development.
Sevidzem also serves as President of the North West Bee Farmers Messenger Cooperative, working alongside a Board of Directors to strengthen the beekeeping sector and improve livelihoods for smallholder farmers. Through her leadership, she has supported value chain development in apiculture, promoting sustainable honey production, market access, and eco-business growth for rural communities.
Her work focuses on integrating women into conservation activities, ensuring that environmental protection efforts translate into tangible economic opportunities. She has championed women’s participation in forest regeneration, climate resilience initiatives, and sustainable land management, helping grassroots communities build income-generating eco-enterprises while protecting biodiversity.
With a Msc. degree in Rural Development and Administration and Bsc. in Law, Sevidzem combines technical expertise, policy understanding, and community organizing skills to influence sustainable development processes. Her interdisciplinary background enables her to link environmental governance, legal frameworks, and grassroots empowerment in practical and transformative ways.
