Nondumiso Magija

Nondumiso is a qualified environmentalist with more than 20 years’ experience in the public sector. Passionate about conservation, particularly the link between people and plants and the importance of sustainability. Over the years, she has led community working groups to champion greening, environmental awareness and love for South African plants. She has successfully led various community driven initiatives such as the Community Gardening Programme with more than 100 participating groups in Cape Town and South African National Biodiversity Institute’s Outreach Greening Programme across the Western Cape Province of South Africa.
Currently employed by the South African National Biodiversity Institute, managing the Free State National Botanical Garden in Bloemfontein which enables her and her colleagues to offer people an experience of biodiversity. She enjoys working in capacity building space. She has served on the Institute for Environment and Recreation Management as the chairperson of the Western Cape Branch Education and Training Committee. She is currently an active member of the Botanical Society of South Africa and serves as an ex officio member of the Free State Branch committee.
