Frances Chase

Frances presently holds the position of Director of Programmes at the Namibia Nature Foundation (NNF), where she oversees six programmatic areas. Her responsibilities include leading initiatives in Community-Based Organisational Strengthening, Combating Wildlife Crime, Freshwater and Inland Fisheries, and Sustainable Agriculture, and she serves as the lead in Sustainable Forestry.

With a background in research and botany, Frances has previously led the National Herbarium of Namibia (WIND) and worked as a curator/botanist at the Royal Botanical Gardens of Kew. Additionally, she has lectured at the Namibian University of Science and Technology (NUST). Frances extends her expertise to forestry-related issues, emphasizing forest management, addressing biodiversity gaps, and developing value chains for non-timber forest products in collaboration with Namibian communities.

Born in South Africa and raised in Namibia, Frances is deeply passionate about the environment, particularly the intersection of plants and people. Actively seeking opportunities to learn from others, she remains dedicated to advancing sustainable practices and conservation efforts in her diverse roles.
