Basilia Shivute

Basilia is dedicated to driving change and rewriting the narrative for effective African conservation leadership as an African woman leader.
Her humble upbringing instilled a strong sense of community while learning and practising a subsistence lifestyle in a small rural village north of Etosha National Park in northern Namibia.
Basilia has 17 years of hands-on experience in various fields, including community-based natural resource management, sustainable tourism, local economic development, environmental awareness and education, project design, monitoring, and evaluation. She has supplemented her practical knowledge and experiences with two master’s degrees: an MSc. in Biodiversity Management and Research from the University of Namibia and an MBA from the African Leadership University in Africa.
